In a congregational church, membership is critical to the life of the
church. Becoming a member enables an individual to vote on important
decisions in the church. We don't make people jump through hoops to become
members; we simply try to discern if the person is a committed Christian.
Membership does not represent any special status, nor does it make a person
more acceptable to God.
