Church Profile

Peoples Evangelical Congregational Church

Founded in 1890 and located in a rural north central Massachusetts community, we are a congregation of believers who rely on the Bible as our primary source of guidance.  Our mission is to love God, love others, and make disciples of Jesus Christ, all to God’s glory (Matt 22:37 38; Matt 28:19; Isa 43:7).

We are affiliated with the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference (4 C’s).  Our congregation is a family of approximately 80 Christians.  We are bound by a shared spirit of warmth and genuine care for one another, who strive to create a welcoming space where all feel comfortable exploring their faith journey, regardless of where they are on that path.

We offer a home for your spiritual growth and comfort, where you will have the opportunity to not only hear engaging sermons based on books of the Bible, but learn how God's word applies to your everyday life and provides inspiration that you can take with you through the week.

When you enter this church for Sunday’s worship service, you’ll be greeted with a sincere “Welcome to Peoples Church”. Here at Peoples Church, we offer you an environment where you can connect with God through uplifting music, prayer, and the spoken word, all contributing to a sense of belonging.

Following the service, we have refreshments where you’ll find caring fellowship and casual conversation, as well as encouragement and an opportunity to share your concerns and perhaps ask for help in prayer and or deeds.

Beyond Sunday Service, the life of our church offers a variety of ministries and activities:

  • Support of missions throughout the world.

  • Adult Bible studies offering opportunities for deeper learning and discussion.

  • Fellowship groups providing an opportunity for connection and shared interests.

  • Local outreach to support those in need and to offer simple everyday acts of

    kindness.

  • Our food shed is always busy providing for those in need.

  • We provide support for one another through challenging times.

  • We are handicap accessible.

  • Our web site offers convenient access to church resources.

Peoples Evangelical Congregational Church is a place where faith, community, and service come together. We invite you to join us as we seek to honor God, grow in faith, and make a positive difference in the world around us.

Whether you're seeking a spiritual home, a place to connect with others, or an opportunity to serve, you'll find a warm welcome and an open heart within our walls. Come and experience the love that binds us together in our Christianity.

About Ashburnham, Massachusetts

Ashburnham is a historic community of approximately 6,300 residents. Two of the town’s greatest assets are its open space and high elevation, with 10 lakes, many ponds and hiking trails. Ashburnham is home to prestigious Cushing Academy and is part of the Ashburnham Westminster Regional School District. A growing number of artisans and farm style businesses crafting and purveying everything from goat’s milk soaps to organic culinary specialties are currently putting their stamp on the town. Best of all, Ashburnham is ‘undiscovered’, yet convenient. It has easy access to Routes 12 and 2, plus the Wachusett Station Commuter Rail MBTA in nearby Westminster.
